Huaguo (Hugo) Zhou's research interests include traffic operations and safety, freeway incident management, access management, highway and traffic engineering, pedestrian and bicycle safety, and intelligent transportation systems.

Zhou holds a Ph.D in transportation engineering from the University of South Florida, a Ph.D. in highway and railway engineering and a BSCE from Beijing Jiao-Tong University in China.
