Brian Hilton's main research area is the use of geographic information system technologies. He is specifically interested in spatial information system development and the use of emerging technologies in information system development.

Hilton holds a Ph.D. in management information systems and a master's degree in management information systems from Claremont Graduate University. He also has a bacehlor's degree in economics from Richard Stockton College of New Jersey.
